Battle of the... Sitcoms

Postby mr cambo » Thu Jan 27, 2011 7:09 pm

Welcome to the Battle of the Sitcoms

Don't Panic!

Manuel will show you to your rooms - if you're lucky

Drink! Feck! Arse! Girls!

Due to the huge number of great sitcoms, there are 16 seeded ones, while 16 more will come from the group stage.

There will be four groups... pick 5 from each list, and note them in order of your favourite. The top 4 from each group will make the knock out stages.

Here goes with the first group... which great comedys won't even make the knockout stage?

Black Books
Alan Partridge (Knowing me Knowing you, I’m Alan Partridge)
Gavin & Stacey
The Inbetweeners
Outnumbered
Peep show
The League of Gentlemen
Drop the Dead Donkey
My Family
Miranda
Not Going Out

The results of the first group stage have thrown up a replay.

Alan Partridge, Not Going Out, & Black Books make the knockout stage.

The replay is between Gavin & Stacey and The League of Gentlemen, so please vote for your favourite.

The next group is:

Absolutely Fabulous
Gimme Gimme Gimme
Spaced
Beautiful People
Nightingales
Green Wing
Coupling
Duty Free
Fairly Secret Army
2Point4 Children
Ever Decreasing Circles
The Thin Blue Line

To limit the possibility of further replays, should two or more teams tie in 4th place then the one with the highest number of votes will progress.

The League of Gentleman beats Gavin & Stacey hands down. This is because G&S is in no way funny, well written, well produced or well acted. I've had painful boils that have been more fun than G&S etc etc etc. Mind you, I am well aware that my choice at number 5 (written by the same guy as number 3) makes some people actually pull their own eyes out they hate it so much. This though, this is a classic:- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=36JoeGxqTIA (contains a rude word, btw, and so does this:- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T3JInKWz ... re=channel )

1 - Spaced
2 - Green Wing
3 - Beautiful People
4 - Ab Fab
5 - Gimme Gimme Gimme

Gavin & Stacey over League, though not if it was confined to just the first ever episode (but it isn't, Ed)

2. Coupling
3. Ever Decreasing Circles
4. Fairly Secret Army
5. Absolutely Fabulous
